The Hammer & Quill
We went here for our first date and then revisited the night we got engaged. Great craft cocktails and wide selection of wine/beer. [Open Mon-Thurs 4pm-12am/ Fri-Sat 4pm-1am] Howard Park is across the street, with easy access to the river walk.
Potawatomi Zoo
Potawatomi Zoo is a small but fun zoo for both children ($12) and adults ($14) alike. Potawatomi Park is free, and has playgrounds for kids as well as nice walking paths and places to sit and eat or just enjoy the day. The Potawatomi Conservatory ($3/adult) is nearby and is a neat little botanical garden to walk through.
Erasmus Books
Our favorite bookstore that our friend Philip owns. You will always find a new treasure and get a warm greeting. One of our favorite spots in South Bend. [Open Thursday-Sunday from noon-6pm]
South Bend City Church
Trisha's church community. If you are around on Sunday morning gatherings are at 9am and 11am. We would love to welcome you!
Kern Road Mennonite Church
Brandon's childhood and current church community. Service begins at 10am. If you are around Sunday we welcome you to join them for service.
River Saint Joe
We celebrate our anniversary here every year. Beautiful area with lots of seating and farm sourced foods and craft beverages.
Potato Creek State Park
Plenty of hiking and biking through woods and wetlands around the lake. Nature center, picnic areas, playgrounds, and swimming beach. Bicycle, Canoe, Rowboat, and Kayak rentals available. Admission per vehicle, $7 for IN plates/$9 for out of state plates.
University of Notre Dame
2 hour parking at the bookstore (MQW5+8V Notre Dame, Indiana), or in ParkMobile lots (police.nd.edu/parking/guest-visitor-parking) Points of Interest: The Grotto (PQ35+7Q Notre Dame, Indiana) The Basilica (PQ36+33 Notre Dame, Indiana) Main Building w/ Golden Dome (PQ36+7C Notre Dame, Indiana) Library w/ reflecting pond & "Touchdown Jesus" (PQ28+H9 Notre Dame, Indiana) Notre Dame Stadium will likely be closed but you can walk around it and stop into Duncan Student Center for some food and a place to hang out. (MQX7+9W Notre Dame, Indiana) Hammes Bookstore for memorabilia (MQW6+H4 Notre Dame, Indiana) Raclin Murphy Museum of Art is small but free, and the sculpture garden out back is nice to walk through.
