How We Met

December 2023

I never thought that a girls' trip with my mom, cousins, aunt and grandma would lead to meeting the love of my life - but here we are! I've asked Luc if I can tell this story because of how wild and kind of nuts it starts off, and how it develops into something sturdy and longstanding. It's my favourite story to tell! So hi! My name is Trisha, and I had the pleasure of "meeting" Luc through a dating app while travelling to New York on a girls trip with my family. As just about anyone good sense would know, New York in the winter is just about the most magical place that there is. And at the risk of sounding too cheesy, Luc made it all the more so. After taking a leap and messaging him on a dating app (for which I personally thank the CEO of Hinge) we developed an instant connection that grew into a solid friendship. For the first few months of getting to know each other, we didn't actually meet. And as crazy as that may sound, other than experiencing the present day with Luc, I'm probably the most thankful for those months where we spoke for hours on end, getting to know each other. I quickly found out that there wasn't anything that I didn't like about Luc. Our chaotic story elevated when we decided to finally meet in person. A lot of (kind, caring and concerned) friends and family pointed out the obvious dangerous warnings: 1) Meeting a stranger - that I met off the internet, no less 2) Meeting a stranger in a different country 3) Deciding to catch a 6 am flight to meet said stranger in a different country But although rationally speaking, the odds weren't in our favour, I went into that week with a sense of calm, that was confirmed when we met, that this guy was better than I could have dreamed. A week after this confirmation, I stepped tearfully and confidently onto my flight home - knowing that I would be back and that my world was changed for the better. And a little over a year later, after yet another 6 am flight, Luc knelt down and asked me the best question I've ever answered. And so that brings us to the present day! Where Luc and I are working on planning a wedding with the people who have loved and surrounded us this entire time. For our guests that we may have not had the pleasure of meeting yet, I'd like to say thank you on behalf of us both. You are the people who have made us who we are today and hold a special place in each of our hearts. We hope that you'll join us in this crazy story for the beginning of the best part yet!
