We will have a Catholic wedding celebrated in the Extraordinary form meaning it will be in spoken Latin and comprised of two parts: the Wedding Rite and the Nuptial Mass. The Wedding Rite will happen first and is the part of the service where we exchange vows and are married. The Nuptial Mass follows and will be celebrated as is usual of an Extraordinary form mass. This will be our first mass celebrated as husband and wife together with our loved ones and community.
Yes, there will be a point during the mass where practicing Catholics proceed to the front of the church, kneel at the altar, and receive the Eucharist on the tongue. During this time, we ask all non-Catholics and non-practicing Catholics to either cross their arms, proceed to the front, and kneel for a blessing without receiving or remain quietly in their seats.
Most of the service will be in Latin, excluding our vows and the priest's homily. Those parts will be in English.
Yes, booklets will be provided towards the entrance of the church to help guests follow along with the readings. It's not uncommon for those unaccustomed to the Latin mass to get lost. If that happens to you, don't worry, just sit back and enjoy the mass.
Yes, there are different parts of the mass where attendants stand, kneel, and sit. If you are unable to stand or kneel for long periods of time, or at all, feel free to sit.
Yes, the wedding will be a cocktail attire affair. We request gentlemen to wear suits and ties and ladies to wear nice cocktail dresses or jumpsuits/pantsuits. We also ask that, when in the church, guests abide by the church's dress code: covered backs and shoulders, a modest neckline, and knee-length dresses or longer.
