I was told not to talk about how tall he was. So upon being introduced in my best "gee wiz" tone I exclaimed "Wow. Yer tall". He instantly gave me what I now refer to as the classic Robert smirk. For some unknown reason I wanted to continue to annoy this tall human with my wit and humor but he kept disappearing into the night. I wouldn't see him again until 7 months later. This time he sat firmly planted and clearly captivated by our conversation and he didn't run away... at least not at first. He managed to sneak away but only to try to get me to join him at his chosen establishment, a "classic" DTLA bar with less noise and less of a crowd. I liked my new friend, he was sarcastic, funny and kept the conversation going. Looking back I wasn't thinking anymore into it than that, but little did I know on the car ride back to our separate locations he would very gently and very carefully reach over and hold my hand. This was the beginning of never letting go.
