How We Met

It's a match! July 5, 2020

Will and Sam met on the dating app Hinge. Sam was out for the 4th of July weekend with friends and noticed a cute guy said he was interested in her. She was a little intoxicated at the time and didn't want to embarrass herself so she waited to match with him until the next day July 5th. They started chatting on the app and soon exchanged numbers. After exchanging numbers they both deleted Hinge and started making plans to have their first date.

First Date

July 17, 2020

Will and Sam originally planned their first date to be a picnic in a park in St. Paul, but the weather turned out to be extremely hot and humid that day, so Will suggested going to a drive-in movie! Sam thought that was a great idea and told him she would make sandwiches and get his favorite chips and pop. He picked her up and Sam's sister Alex couldn't believe he was getting out of his car to come to the door instead of just texting "I'm here!" They had such a great time at the drive-in that when Will dropped Sam back off at home she forgot her phone in his car! She didn't know how she was going to contact him, so she tried finding him on Facebook. Once she found him she sent him a friend request and tried calling him. Thankfully he answered and she explained she left her phone in his car. He laughed and gave her his address, so she borrowed Alex's phone and drove to his place to get her phone. When she got there he came outside with her phone and asked if she did that on purpose. She exclaimed, "No!" but it worked out in her favor because before she drove away he went in for their first kiss. :)

Second Date

Make it a Double - July 24, 2020

After such a great first date they decided they wanted to meet up again the following weekend. Sam asked if Will would be interested in a double-date with her sister and her sister's boyfriend. He agreed and they went on a double-date to a movie on the field at CHS field. It was such a fun experience! We got to sit in the outfield and watch The Goonies on the outfield sign. They had such a fun time and Sam and Alex were so happy Will and Nate hit it off as well. We already started saying they would make perfect brother-in-laws. ;)

Some Time Apart

Summer 2021

During the summer of 2021 Sam and Will decided it was best for them to spend some time apart from one another. During this time, Sam truly leaned on God and knew if they were meant to be together that God would bring them back together. They made it maybe a month of not communicating and then Will asked Sam if she would like to go on a date. The time apart from one another helped them realize that they didn't want to be with anyone else. So in the fall of 2021, Will ended his lease and moved in with Sam.

Move to Springfield

April 1, 2023

Since Sam works from home, they had many discussions on if they wanted to stay in the metro or move to Springfield (Sam's hometown). Sam never in her wildest dreams thought she'd be moving back to her hometown, but when talking about the future and where they would want to raise kids, Will felt strongly about being in a town like Springfield, which surprised Sam. So she made the plans to sell her house in South St. Paul and they were able to find a cute small home to rent in Springfield. God truly made the stars align for this to happen for them. Now they have been in Springfield over 2 years!

Engaged!

November 7, 2024

It was a normal Thursday night, Sam and Will were doing their normal nightly routine after supper. Sam had just taken a shower, was in her pjs, and making tea in the kitchen. Will had went down to the basement and asked Sam to grab him something out of a case on the kitchen counter. She turn to the other counter and when she opened the case there was a note that simply said, "Will you marry me?" She turned around and Will was there on one knee. She started laughing and crying because she was so surprised and happy. Will had been acting weird all week, so now she knew why! It was simple and perfect and totally them. They can't wait to start the rest of their lives together as husband and wife and start their own little family.
