2389: four brass numbers nailed together on the two thousandth, three hundredth and eighty ninth cabin door of the Carnival Cruise ship. Years later, that ship would break down at sea without air conditioning, food, water or working toilets. Legend says the LBC caused this ship's demise, either by jamming 30 people into the ship's glass elevator, or by stomping their feet in the toddler pool to “The Lion King” soundtrack. No one knows for sure. What we do know is that fate would put Mike and Alison together in the 2,389th room. As friends at first, just two pieces of the LBC puzzle. But God had a bigger plan. And it all started in the 2,389th room, on a cruise ship, watching Frosty the Snowman, on a laptop, in the middle of July, in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. That cruise lit the spark of Mike and Alison's friendship. Although it may have been weird timing in both their lives, they were mutually infected by each other, inspired for more life, more laughs, more experiences together. Finally over a “friendly dinner” of Caribbean food, Mike confessed, “I’ve been having feelings for you that aren’t going away”. Turns out, they never went away. And never will. It was the birth of "Charms". Note: “Charms” was created by Alison, calling everything she loves or deemed cute a “Char” (after her dog) + her admiration for Mikes muscley “arms”. Thus “Charms” was born. It became interchangeable immediately, the title of “Mike and Alison”. The years that followed were filled with growth & learning, camping & road trips, laughing & losses, beers & bicycles, traveling and performing, volleyball & compromise, Montauk & Landers, costumes & karaoke, coffee & humble pie, singing & praying, crafting & building, loving physical fitness but never more than food. The Charms’ love food. After 7 years, Mike proposed to Alison in the doorway of their newly purchased home “The Charm Farm”, surrounded by the closest family and friends. One of the best nights of their lives.
