Sannie and Tricia have known each other since 2010. They rekindled their friendship in 2013 by sending each other care packages and exchanging music. Their friendship blossomed as they took a leap of faith meeting halfway in Sacramento where they spent the entire day together. That evening they sat in the car talking for hours, and ended the night with a kiss. The following month one of their favorite bands, The xx, performed in Reno where Sannie asked Tricia to officially be his lady. The song, VCR, is what started it all.
Sannie and Tricia spent the morning and afternoon in San Francisco with friends casually having coffee, going for photowalks, and eating. Towards the end of the day Sannie took Tricia and their friends (siblings) Brian Rampas and Mariejoy Rampas to a reservoir in South San Jose where Sannie normally takes photos of vehicles. Tricia was thinking it was a normal weekday to hang out with friends. Sannie, who is usually confident and easygoing was peculiarly stuttering and laughing. Tricia did not think anything of Sannie's awkwardness and laughed with him. As the sun started to set a "photoshoot" took place. Sannie is the type of photographer who doesn't like to be part of photos. He then asks Tricia if she wanted to take a photo with him. To her surprise she quickly agreed. The word "city lights" kept coming out of Brian Rampas mouth and Sannie was pacing back and forth in front of his car. As Brian and Joy were taking photos and filming, Sannie took Tricia's hands turned towards her to tell her he loves her and that he has been waiting for this moment to happen. Tricia obviously cried the entire proposal, but when he popped the question she hysterically cried, YES! Thank you Mariejoy and Brian Rampas for being Sannie and Tricia's Day 1's, and for helping Sannie with this proposal.
