Ours wasn’t a love-at-first-sight kind of story—it was the steady kind that snuck up on us. We started as coworkers at Routh Packing—I was the USDA inspector, and he was the maintenance supervisor. I spent my days writing things up, and he spent his trying to charm his way out of trouble. He was a pain in the butt (some things never change), but he also made me laugh when I didn’t want to, listened when I needed it, and slowly became my favorite part of every day. Now I get to marry the guy who made me love life when I least expected it and love him for all the reasons I never saw coming.

I never expected to fall for the smart, beautiful, outgoing USDA inspector who kept me fixing endless fans at work—but here we are! What started as a lot of sarcastic back-and-forth turned into an easy friendship, and then, something even better. We’ve always just worked—whether it was fixing something or figuring out life together. She keeps me grounded, makes me laugh, and somehow still puts up with my nonsense. She supports me in everything I do—including my “very important” fishing trips (which she graciously allows). I’m lucky she chose me-and even luckier she keeps choosing me every day.
