Adam and I both grew up in Pembroke and first met at Pembroke Community Middle School math class. I had my friend ask Adam if he would be my boyfriend. She came back to me with great news that he said yes! A few short classes later I decided to dump him because he was ignoring me in the hallways. Turns out, he never said yes in the first place and was shocked when I said I was breaking up with him haha! Fast forward to Pembroke High School, we shared the same friend group who would meet every morning in the cafeteria before classes started to catch up. Junior year homecoming was when our "just friends" stage started. A friend of ours paired us up to dance and that's when Adam (who had a gf at the time) sang every word to "Hotel Room Service" by Pitbull into my ear. Our good friend to this day, T, came up to me the next day to tell me that Adam dumped his girlfriend and was going to ask me out. I felt bad, I didn't want to be boyfriend-girlfriend yet but did have a crush on him. We ended up going to Junior prom together that same year. Senior year was when our "just friends" stage got more serious. He asked me to Senior prom early spring so no one else could. In May of our senior year I got very sick. I was placed in a medically induced coma at Children's Hospital for a week and stayed there for a month. That meant I would miss prom with Adam but he came up with the most thoughtful plan. He went to prom for the first half and then came to the hospital to visit me for the second half all dressed up. This awful time for my family and I was also when I realized he was a keeper, I was in love. After high school we stayed together and attended different colleges in different states but gave it our all to stay together. While it was not easy, it made our love for each other stronger. Fast forward to 2020, our plans of owning a home and getting engaged have come true! We are beyond excited for May, 14 2022!
