The Beginning of Kolby and Trianna It all started in 2019 at prom, in downtown Detroit. Trianna and Kolby were walking toward Starters, the excitement of the night in the air, when she noticed someone was staring at her. It was Kolby. Neither of us knew it yet, but this was the beginning of something special. Later that summer, Kolby reached out after seeing Trianna on someone’s Snapchat story. He messaged her, asking if she wanted to play iMessage games. Trianna, being the thoughtful friend she was, sent Kolby her number, and we started playing 8-ball. What started as a simple game turned into something much more as we began texting and talking outside of the game. As we got to know each other, we realized that we had crossed paths several times before—unbeknownst to us—before we finally made that connection. After a few months of talking, Kolby and Trianna went on our first date together, a moment that felt like the start of something beautiful. The First Date: Redford Carnival Adventure Our first date was at the Redford Carnival, a night filled with fun and laughter. We spent the evening goofing around, joking, and even poking fun at Kolby's ex-girlfriend. We didn’t make anything official yet, but as the night went on, it was clear to both of us—we knew who we wanted to be with. The night was still young, and neither of us wanted to go home just yet. Kolby’s parents, Theresa and Kenneth Williams, were supposed to take me home since my mom, Tamika Holly, was ready to leave. But I wasn’t ready to call it a night, and Kolby felt the same way. We decided to stay at the carnival until it ended. As the evening wore on, the carnival started to wrap up. Kolby tried calling his parents to figure out where they were, but by this time, both our phones were dead. We were stuck in the dark, literally and figuratively. We began walking around, trying to find his parents, but got lost in the process. We tried asking people to borrow their phones to call Kolby’s parents, but most people just looked at us like we were out of our minds. Fortunately, a kind woman noticed our struggle and lent us her phone. After what felt like an eternity, we were finally able to reach Kolby’s parents, and they came to pick us up. Kolby’s parents drove me home, and the night ended with a warm hug and a kiss, marking the beginning of what would become a beautiful journey. The date was chaotic but full of excitement, and while it wasn’t perfect, it was more than enough to keep me around for the next five years. And from there, the rest is history—a journey toward a new beginning for both of us.
