The year was 2014 – Stacey and Trey first met while working their first jobs out of college at NOV. Trey was the new guy at the time and began making friends with some of his peers. At first Stacey and Trey rarely ever spoke to each other. While Trey talked to most of Stacey’s group members, he had this idea that Stacey thought she was too good for him – often awkwardly staring at him while giving him a nasty dose of the stank eye. From there, Trey would often catch himself staring at a girl from afar in an olive green romper wondering who she was, where she sat, and what her story was. He did not realize though it was the quiet, awkward girl Stacey who sat in cubicle catty corner that never uttered a word to him. Months passed and Stacey and another good friend and co-worker Josh were having a joint birthday party. Josh invited Trey to brunch and the after party Pub Crawl. Brunch led to shots and Trey quickly shuffled out of there before any damage was done. He eventually would return where Stacey’s good friend Rachael attempted to play match maker. Stacey and Trey both downplayed the situation and the two both went on with their lives for a bit longer. Two months later, Stacey, Trey, Josh and Stacey’s friend, Melis all decided to go to Renaissance Festival together. This is where the first spark happened – Stacey still continued to run around avoiding Trey like her life depended on it but deep down had a big ole' middle school crush as did Trey. Between the rain and abundance of honey wine (mead), there was just something undeniable about the whole day. The two would go on their separate ways for the next few weeks. Trey introduced Stacey to Snapchat though, at the Renaissance Festival and that’s what really brought the pair together – often exchanging goofy videos and flirty texts. The two would soon see each other again out at a bar again in Midtown. Stacey didn’t realize though this wasn’t any random occurrence and that with some good detective work, Trey realized she was just down the street from one of his friend's houses where they often met up to pregame. The two ultimately two stepped the night away together until closing time where they stumbled upon an old gypsy on the street corner. She sensed that there was an attraction between the two, but there was something that was holding them back. Fast forward to New Years where Stacey and Trey would spend the night together watching a movie at home and seeing the ball drop at midnight. Trey would eventually take Stacey to one of his favorite restaurants, Houston's where he would make an awkward attempt at asking Stacey to be his girlfriend before he left town for a ski trip with some friends. He then returned a day early just in time to surprise Stacey for Valentine’s Day and the rest you can say is history!!!
After spending what seemed like an eternity cooped up due to Covid, Stacey and Trey decided it was time for a well needed vacation together. The two originally wanted to take a trip out of the country but at some point, Trey’s passport had been eaten by one of his Mom’s dogs. After much deliberation, the two finally decided on a last minute trip to Sedona. Stacey and Trey were looking forward to seeing the red rocks, vortices (high energy spots), and picture perfect views. There were certainly a few hiccups along the way. After a quick hike and a good first night’s sleep, the altitude and dust began to get to Stacey. She experienced some major headaches and swollen / puffy eyes. Trey being the morning person he is was ready to set out at the crack of dawn and get to Devils Bridge for a potential proposal before the Summer Arizona heat started to creep in. Stacey, though, was absolutely having no part of it. Stacey, as she does on every trip, had packed her entire life away and decided to dip into her bag of tricks. She began applying manuka honey all over her eyes. This didn’t seem to help, so she then proceeded to add a layer of bentonite clay over her face to help with the swelling. Two hours later and an argument in between, it was then the hottest part of the day and Trey’s proposal plan seemed to had fallen through. Trey, through an act of God, was finally able to drag Stacey out of the Bed & Breakfast and the two made their way towards Cathedral Rock. It was the perfect place to re-align after the fun morning spent together. They would go on to light a candle at the cathedral and say a few prayers before heading out for a nice afternoon hike. Stacey and Trey eventually found themselves at Faye Canyon Trail. As the couple reached what seemed to be the end of the trail, a woman mentioned that the views at the top of the Canyon were spectacular and that they should keep making the ascent. Trey decided to lead the way to see if it would be doable for Stacey. Stacey headed up shortly after but told him at a certain point she did not feel comfortable going any higher. Trey quickly calculated based on the view and the fact that they wanted to truly enjoy the rest of the trip together that this might be the best place to ask for Stacey’s hand in marriage. Trey grabbed the ring from his bag and made his way back down to where Stacey had stopped to rest. Trey kneeled down behind Stacey, tapped her on the shoulder, and asked if she would spend the rest of her life with him. Stacey could not believe her eyes and was truly surprised, with the only words coming out of her mouth being “OMG, YES.” The ring initially didn't fit at the time of the proposal thanks to Stacey’s also swollen fingers but slid on perfectly just in time to celebrate with a few margaritas at the local Mexican restaurant at the edge of town. Stacey researched the spot Trey proposed at later on that evening and come to find, it was right in the middle of a vortex – a special place on earth filled with high, positive energy; perfect as a place for two young lovebirds to come together and pledge the rest of their lives to one another. The pair likes to believe that Stacey’s Dad, Melvin was with them in that moment, sending them all the good vibes and helping to catapult them into their next amazing chapter together.
