Eleven years ago, Trey was visiting his best friend Bryan in Arizona before going on his first deployment. His best friend just happened to be Lauren's cousin. The trio ended up hanging out at the mall that day after driving in the million degree weather of Arizona summer. He couldn't understand why anyone would live in that hell and would never move there. Fast forward to 2014, he was getting off active duty after three deployments and relocating to Arizona. One night, Bryan and his fiancee Katie (also Lauren's best friend) met up with friends at a club in downtown Tempe to celebrate Trey's move to Arizona. She shows up and his first words were "Oh yeah we met back in 2007!" Weird. He was dressed very nice, but looked so uncomfortable. She says to him "You look like you should be wearing a hat, plaid shirt and some boots." Well, little did she know that's pretty much what he wore everyday. Both newly single and not in search of anything long-term, they hit it off. One snag, he had a girlfriend in tow and boy was she jealous. It was almost closing time so they decided to head back to Bryan & Katie's house in Trey's truck. Lauren, being the pushy go-getter that she is, jumps in the front and takes the middle seat next to Trey. Girlfriend sat in the back...
October 8th, 2018, a couple months after their 4th Anniversary they were visiting family in Missouri for his cousin Bobby's wedding. They had gone for a ride in the corvette that day. It was a beautiful day in Lake Ozark to go for a drive. They sipped wine and beer at their favorite winery while taking in the view of the lake, ate a quick lunch at one their usual places, then jetted off on one more scenic drive before heading back to his grandparents. Fried crappie fish is one his favorites when he comes home to visit. They had a delicious homemade meal, and afterward went for a walk down the drive. She thought it to be a bit odd that they would go for a walk, but it's their vacation time. May as well take it all in! Grandma and Grandpa sitting on the porch, he turns around and gives her that look. The "I have something to say but am scared to death to say it" look. She asks what's wrong and he reaches into his pocket. "I've been wanting to do this for a while." He gets down on one knee and she starts to cry. Before he can ask the question, she sticks out her hand. Embarrassing! He says, is that a yes?! She says, what's your question?! The ring was too big, and he says the diamond is too small. To her, it was perfect. It could've been from a gumball machine, but coming from him it was beautiful.
