We met the modern-day way: on a dating app. Specifically, Bumble, where the girl has 24 hours to message first or the match disappears forever. We both swiped right, and while I was not planning on messaging him, Trey had other plans. He paid extra to extend the time, which pretty much sealed his fate. Of course, I had to message him after that. We went mini golfing, where Trey immediately impressed me with his unique talent for getting the ball into the hole, only to have it bounce right back out. After that, he suggested we go for a drive and casually asked, βHey, wanna see a real zebra?β Naturally, I said yes. The zebra, unfortunately, never made an appearance and to this day (to me) remains a mystery. The drive also included a stop at the Springfield jail, where we looked at inmates and joked that if one of us were ever incarcerated, the other would absolutely be sneaking snacks through the gate. Somewhere between the missing zebra, jailhouse humor, and nonstop laughter, I realized this was someone special. What started as a swipe, a time extension, and a very questionable first date turned into something neither of us expected. A love built on laughter, spontaneity, and never taking life too seriously. The rest, as they say, is history, and we cannot wait to keep writing it together.
