Recent graduates and finding the one being the last thing on our minds, we both headed to a wedding of college friends Sarah and Scott Penny. Sarah was a KU grad and had been roommates with Andrea all 4 years, and Scott knowing Treys family from the U of O. We had no idea what the weekend had in store for us! I (Andrea) remember seeing Trey's family Christmas card on the counter, making a comment to Sarah about how cute he was and Sarah making sure I was aware that he would be at the wedding. Meanwhile my (Trey's) first encounter of Andrea was hearing her speak at the rehearsal dinner and she immediately caught my eye, but living halfway across the country from each other a relationship was not the first thing on our minds. It wasn't until the wedding day that all the pieces came together. I (Andrea) happened to be sitting at a table with Molly (Trey's mom.) Getting to know each other over dinner Molly took matters into her own hands. She marched me over to Trey and reminded us we were both single. I didn't know what to say! I (Trey) was so embarrassed all I could do was apologize and Andrea awkwardly danced away. We were then called for the traditional bouquet and garter toss...AND you guessed it, we caught them! Honestly, the rest was history.
After living 1,810 miles apart we talked everyday and visited each other often. Fortunately my track career brought me back to Washington and made that distance a mere 137 miles apart. Cake for us! Eventually we moved together back to Kansas where we lived in the same town for the first time in our 4 years together. We have stood together through some big moments and couldn't imagine life without each other. Back where we both met, The Camelback Inn, I (Trey) got down on one knee and asked Andrea to marry me. She said YES! We can't wait for the adventures ahead together and want nothing more than to celebrate our love with family and friends. You guys are our world and we wouldn't be us without you!
