Our Love Story

Like many modern couples, our story began online. We met for coffee on a rainy January afternoon. Kari was so nervous she almost backed out, but a good friend insisted, and we are forever grateful she did! The first date was at Brew Bees Coffee (after Kari mistakenly tried to send Trey to a different bee-themed cafe two hours away). Despite the initial awkwardness, the connection was instant—enough to earn a second date, and that’s when things really took off. For both of us, love solidified through times of care and consistency. For Trey, it was the overwhelming desire to be with Kari when she was sick with bronchitis, and her steady grace and love when he shared difficult parts of his past. For Kari, it was seeing Trey show up—whether through illness, family health scares, or the countless small acts of intentionality he offers every day. Since then, our life together has been full of adventures — big and small. Traveling to Lynden and Seattle to meet Kari’s family, joining friends for family camp, discovering new coffee shops, and exploring our LA neighborhood. Trey planned a beautiful proposal in Big Bear, but life had other plans! Kari's grandma accidentally spoiled the surprise the night before. Thanks to quick thinking (and a lot of help from our families and friends), Trey successfully pivoted. He proposed bright and early at 9 AM in a small park near Kari’s apartment—a simple, sweet, and perfectly "us" moment. We spent the rest of the day celebrating and ended it with an unexpected late-night airport pickup for Kari's mom after multiple cancelled flights! Now, we can't wait to celebrate the start of our marriage in our backyard garden wedding with all of our favorite people!
