The love story began at Western Carolina University in the fall of 2013. The two met on Trey’s Birthday, when a mutual friend brought Taylor along to a movie night. As the next few weeks passed and Taylor began to spend more time with Trey’s group of friends, there were some flirtatious exchanges and stolen “sneaky” glances from across the room. It wasn’t long before the two began to connect as more than friends. They began to spend time together going to eat meals at the dining hall, hiking, playing board games, and going to events on campus. Shortly after, Trey asked Taylor to go on a date to Nick and Nate’s for some Italian food- the rest is history!

A couple weeks beforehand, Trey had made reservations at Sullivan's Steakhouse for date night. Unknown to Taylor, Trey had arranged for both families to meet at the restaurant near the end of their dinner so they could be present to witness the proposal. That night, Trey and Taylor met at Trey's apartment in Charlotte to go to the restaurant. Taylor thought Trey was acting weird as soon has he arrived...he even disappeared for a few minutes after "putting away his social security card" in his safe. At the restaurant, Trey had a gift that he refused to let Taylor open until the end of the meal. As they were finishing up their dinner, a message came across Taylor's Apple watch that read "Okay I think we are ready. Going to give it to her here shortly right at 8:30." Unknown to Trey at the time, the message was accidentally sent in a group text that also included Taylor. Taylor immediately knew what was about to happen, she had her suspicions from the way Trey had been acting that night, but the message just confirmed something big was about to happen. Taylor looked up at Trey as he shoved the gift toward her, so flustered. After opening the gift, Taylor looked over and Trey was down on one knee. Of course, Taylor said YES!
