Shawna and Trevor met on eHarmony, drawn together by the intentionality and warmth of each other's profiles. For two weeks, they talked for hours over Zoom, laughter and curiosity filling the time. But soon, they knew: if this connection was meant to bloom, it needed to happen in person. With Shawna living in Washington, DC, and Trevor in Chicago, Trevor boarded a plane with hope in his heart and flew to DC for a weekend of dates. That weekend became the prologue of something beautiful. On Friday night, they dined at what is now their favorite restaurant, Ethiopic. Saturday was spent in deep discussion, wandering through the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, and on Sunday morning, they walked through the doors of Passion City Church D.C. together for the first time—a church they now regularly attend. Over the next two years, Shawna and Trevor became a source of strength and support for each other through major life transitions, deepening their bond and commitment. And so, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, what would’ve been the 51st wedding anniversary of Trevor’s parents, with deep love and adoration, Trevor asked Shawna to spend the rest of their lives together.
