We met at Central College where we both work. The athletics building was under renovation at the time, so our temporary offices were in rooms across the hall from each another in one of the college's dorms. We got to know each other by playing pickelball, having nerf gun fights in the office, and eating lunch with a group of coaches. After a few months, Trevor asked Kayla out on a date to play tennis (of course!) and get dinner.
We were staying with some of Kayla's family in Indiana when Trevor suggested that we go to Tippecanoe State Park to watch the sunrise. It was a frosty October morning, but we bundled up and climbed the firetower in the middle of the park to catch the start of the day. The sun was just peaking over the tips of the trees as we reached the top where Trevor proposed with both a ring and box that had made himself (check out the "photos" tab for pictures).
