How We Met

God's Plan

Trevor and Katelyn met through missionary work with Peace Church in Wilson, NC. Trevor went to Veracruz, Mexico on mission in early 2023. Later that year Katelyn went on the same mission trip, but Trevor did not go this time. However, Katelyn heard Brian Holder, who coordinates the trip, talking highly about Trevor. So, Katelyn sent Trevor a Facebook friend request. Coincidentally, the same day Brian told Trevor about Katelyn and how they would make a good couple, Trevor saw that he had a friend request from Katelyn when he went to search for her profile. A few days later, he messaged her. They went on their first date and very quickly became inseparable. God truly orchestrated their relationship. Through their emotional connection, passion for animals, and love for Jesus, their relationship is truly one made in Heaven. On the night of their first date, Trevor saw a shooting star for the first time. Katelyn's favorite Bible verse is Psalms 147:4 ("He counts the stars and calls them by name"), so stars are a symbolic part of their relationship.

How Did He Propose?

Sunset Rock

Trevor took Katelyn to Highlands, NC for her 26th birthday weekend. Little did she know, Trevor had plans to propose. Two weeks before, he went the Highlands while Katelyn thought he was at the beach with his best man, Cole. Trevor spent the weekend scouting out trails and proposal sites and met the photographer he hired. For over 3 months prior to this, he had been ring shopping. He went to 15+ different jewelry stores to find the best place to get the engagement ring custom made. He studied all the science that goes into diamonds and picked the best one he could find. He likely knows more now than most people working in fine jewelry stores! On the way to dinner on November 29th, Trevor unexpectedly started driving up a trail. They got out of the car and walked over to the most breathtaking mountain view. You could see the blue ridge skyline for miles, and soon the sunset showed off its vibrant colors. Trevor then stepped behind Katelyn to begin his proposal speech and soon turned her around and got on one knee! Trevor says that he barely got the words out before she said "YES!"
