How We Met

High School

We went to high school together and in our junior/senior year ended up in the same circle of friends. We started dating in April of 2010 and went to our senior prom together. He went to U of I and I went to IWU and we would see each other on the weekends. Long distance was hard but we made it work. Then I got accepted to my first choice graduate school in Dayton, OH. I moved here in 2014 and we continued to work really hard at keeping our relationship strong. Long distance has not been easy, but everyday I get to share with my best friend has been so worth it.

The Proposal

5.26.17

About a week prior, I was looking at my calendar and realized I had a whole 6 days off for Memorial Day weekend and realized this might be my last 6 days off for a while. I told Trevor we should take a trip and he eagerly agreed. My friend Christina asked me if she thought he would propose on this trip and I said no way, we planned this trip in a week, there is no way he has time to get a ring. Little did I know that he had the ring for 5 months and was just waiting for the opportunity! I had also just passed my clinical comprehensive examination and when Trevor arrived in Ohio he insisted that we go out to a nice restaurant to celebrate. I kept telling him lets just go grab something quick since we were supposed to leave for vacation and had a long drive. He insisted on lunch and that we look nice so I had a feeling something was up. After lunch, he made up some story of a garden festival he wanted to check out before we left. I said fine and was utterly annoyed, we needed to hit the road! When we got there (which is also my favorite place in all of Dayton), he led me to a spot where there were rose petals in a heart shape. He got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever. I could hardly speak and he had to prompt me for answer. I said yes, of course! The best part is that he arranged for photographers to catch the whole thing on camera and film. We even did a mini photo shoot in the gardens!
