Our Story

Trevor and I met at Bethel University where we both attended college. He played football there and I played volleyball. Our freshman year we had mutual friends and had multiple classes together. I even sat behind him in our general chemistry class, but we never actually spoke to each other or got to know one another the first year. Then at the beginning of sophomore year, one of my roommates invited Trevor over to our dorm. I was sitting in the living room with a few of my roommates when we heard a knock on the door. We glanced at each other wondering who it could be as my roommate who invited him was not even home. We opened the door to find Trevor. We gave him a questioning look and asked him what he was doing here. He explained that my roommate invited him. We told him she wasn’t home but to come in anyway. From that moment on Trevor spent many hours in our dorm most of which he filled by yapping to us about anything and everything. Some days I would even come home to him taking a nap on our couch! We all became close friends. One of my roommates had a boyfriend on the football team who was friends with Trevor. They would often both come over to hang out in our room. One day before their last game of the season, my roommate was begging me to go with to their game. It was 5 hours from Bethel so I said it makes sense for you to go because you have a boyfriend it would be weird if I would go. She then leaned over to Trevor and whispered something in his ear. Trevor turned to me with a smirk on his face and asked me out. I knew he was joking so I smiled and said yes. We ended up going on a “fake” double date with my roommate and her boyfriend when the boys returned from their game, but it didn’t feel so fake when Trevor paid for my ice cream. After that we started to see each other as possibly more than friends. In this season we both did a lot of praying and growing. I knew Trevor’s personality but I didn’t know exactly where his heart was with the Lord. There was one night I was discussing these thoughts and feelings about Trevor with my roommates and sure enough the next day as Trevor was leaving our room he randomly started explaining how he recently had decided he wanted to start living for Christ as he discovered he could not live without Him. He shared with us that he dreamed of a family centered around faith and a godly wife. Once he left I looked at my roommates in shock. The Lord had answered my prayer and gave me peace in starting a relationship with Trevor. A few months later after returning from Christmas break Trevor finally asked me to go on a real date. We went ice skating at Lake of the Isles. This would end up being the same spot where he would propose to me on a picnic date near the shore. We headed into our senior year happily engaged but still unsure of our future. I was applying to physician assistant school and didn’t know if I would even get in or where I would end up. Trevor still has one more semester to finish his mechanical engineering and physics degrees after this year so we worried about having to live apart for a while as he finished school at Bethel and I started PA school. After many prayers, I was accepted into Bethel’s PA program! This summer I will start PA school while Trevor will continue working at a civil engineering internship. We are so thankful for the many ways God has worked in our story.
