Our Story

Dawnielle and Trevor met during college orientation at Pepperdine University. What started as a quick hello turned into a thirty-minute conversation that neither of them wanted to end. From that day on, they spent nearly every day of freshman year together quickly becoming best friends. Fun fact: their wedding day falls exactly seven years to the day they first met — a total coincidence and, as they like to say, a little God wink. Freshman year came to an abrupt halt when COVID-19 sent everyone home, but the two reconnected the summer before sophomore year when Dawnielle moved back to Malibu. By March 2021, they finally made it official. After junior year together, Trevor transferred to California State University, Fullerton, about two and a half hours from Malibu. Despite the distance (and plenty of traffic), Dawnielle never missed a baseball game. They graduated after navigating medium-distance, only growing closer through every mile. Knowing California wasn’t their forever home, Dawnielle decided to pursue law school in the Carolinas, and Trevor followed his dream of playing one more year of baseball, this time at Coastal Carolina University. While Dawnielle began her 1L year at Wake Forest School of Law, Trevor played his fifth season three and a half hours away. Still, Dawnielle never missed a game. When Trevor decided to hang up his cleats, he joined Dawnielle in Winston-Salem for a year as he stepped into the real world. After years of classes, travel, and long-distance miles, they finally had time to simply be together and look ahead to the future they’d always talked about building. Every summer after they started dating, Dawnielle spent time in Temecula with Trevor’s family, gallivanting around wine country with Julie and Hailey, soaking up sunshine, enjoying lots of good wine, and more than a few charcuterie boards. So when Trevor decided to propose, it only made sense for him to do it back in Temecula wine country. He completely surprised Dawnielle, and if you know her Type-A personality, you know that’s no easy task. Props to Trevor for pulling off the impossible. The proposal was absolutely perfect in every way. Today, after years of long distance, they’re finally in the same place for good—Trevor in Chapin, South Carolina, and Dawnielle joining him after finishing law school. Through every chapter, college, cross-country moves, baseball seasons, more moving, and law school finals, they’ve been each other’s biggest supporters, encouraging one another to chase their dreams and keeping faith at the center of it all. They feel beyond blessed for the journey that led them here, to their wedding day, seven years later, surrounded by the family and friends who have cheered them on every step of the way. They can’t wait to celebrate with you!
