I, Carmen, was newly 18 and had been working at Target a little bit before the cute new boy started. I was soon introduced to him as Trevor, at the end of 19 at the time. I did as I sometimes tend to do and made a few assumptions, leading me to believe he was another coworker's son. This was definitely not true- but I only found that out after telling my fair share of people when everyone inevitably asked everyone else about the new kid. I don't regret accidentally spreading this rumor though, because it led to our first real conversation. I overheard him say to someone that he was so confused why everyone thought he was our coworker's son. I realized instantly I had messed up, so I proceded to turn around and tell him exactly that- simultaneously cracking up. I'm still not sure if he was laughing at me or with me but I'll never forget that first laugh together- it was just the first of so many.
Fast forward to our cabin trip celebrating our fifth dating anniversary (September 27th). We went to Blue Ridge for the weekend and took our fur baby, Champ, with us. That Saturday morning we woke up with the sun and went for a private guided horseback ride through an Applachian trail. She took us off the beaten path to a gazebo overlooking a pond still clouded with morning fog. The gazebo was decked out with a charcuterie board, champagne and a rose for garnish. This is definitely about the time I got butterflies. The guide offered to take photos of us and as we took a few photos he got down on one knee and asked THE question! I think we both blacked out but I do know that was the most beautiful and blissful moment of my life!
