Trevor & Brooke met through the world of track and field. Both were college hammer throwers, and at the time Brooke was finishing up her collegiate career, while Trevor was starting his collegiate coaching career. Brooke didn't realize that Trevor grew up about 30 minutes south of her, so when he was home for the holidays she took advantage of social media and sent him a message. He quickly responded and offered to exchange numbers and take Brooke out on a date. The following day, Trevor picked up Brooke and they were planning on going to the Toledo Zoo Lights. It was a warm Saturday night in December, so all of Toledo had the same idea. After waiting in a line miles long, they decided to go with plan B, which was meet Trevor's sister out for a movie. It definitely wasn't your typical first date movie, The Wolf on Wall Street. Prior to the movie, Brooke & Trevor spent all that time in the car in great conversation. It felt so easy, almost like they had already known each other for years. When Trevor dropped Brooke off after the date, she told her mom she felt like he was it. She felt like that was her last first date ever. Then, 3 days later Trevor moved across the country to Utah to start a new job. They spent everyday talking on the phone for hours and face-timing. Brooke even planned a trip out to visit him for a couple days, and that was when they decided they wanted to make things "official" and start dating. Six months later, Trevor decided he wanted to move home and peruse other career options. Finally, after six months of very long distance, Brooke & Trevor were able to live in the same state. Their relationship continued to grow, and the rest is history.
Brooke & Trevor planned a trip down to Galveston, TN together. This was the first big trip they took together, just the two of them. Little did Brooke know, Trevor was planning a proposal on the first day of their vacation. They woke up early to go hiking, and Trevor convinced Brooke to stop at a small park before their hike. He told her he wanted to check out the stream and the surrounding area. Of course, she bought it. So they arrived to Mynatt Park, and after a few minutes of "checking out the stream" Trevor got down on one knee and popped the question. He had hired a photographer (Kudos to Trevor!) so they had a mini photo-shoot after the proposal and were able to share with family & friends. They spent the rest of their vacation celebrating being a newly engaged couple!
