We ended up playing on the same co-ed softball team in May of 2018. We both love to play sports so it was a very fitting way to meet. After a few weeks, he asked me to go on a date and we ended up together watching fireworks on the 4th of July. From there (cheesy line ahead) the fireworks sparked and we continued to go on dates until July 28th, when he asked me to be in a relationship with him. The rest is history from that point. Each day only confirmed that he was the person I would spend my life with and now here we are! Honestly, God knew what he was doing in matching us. I’m so thankful for the way God has prepared our hearts for this level of commitment and is continuing to show us how to sacrificially love each other as we move closer to spending our lives together.
He drove to Ohio Christmas day to see me with plans to propose the next day. He asked me a week or two before to plan a time that we could go out and enjoy our time together. So we decided we would go for a walk at a park nearby. We walked to an area with a really beautiful waterfall and the sun was shining through the trees. It was very special. Then he snuck behind me and got on one knee and asked me to be his wife! Of course I said yes. I was thankful for this private moment that we shared together before our very public dinner took place with 20 family members. It was the perfect proposal.
