We're Getting Married!

We met working at an event in Los Angeles. On the first day of training, we all had to go around in a circle and say one interesting fact about ourselves. I shared that I had recently started an online clothing boutique. Once sharing time was over Shawn came up to me and told me that he too had a clothing line. Only recently did I find out he really came up to me because he thought I was cute (I'm not mad at it!) A first connection over clothing turned into a second connection over travel and a third over our love for the Lord. It has been a beautiful year of connecting, growing, and maturing as best friends and partners.

I woke up in a panic at midnight to what sounded like rocks hitting my window. My first thought was the end of the world and my second (more logical) thought was that someone was trying to kidnap me. At the exact moment I looked at my phone Shawn started calling me. I answered and he told me to come outside, after telling him that I was scared he told me that he was outside. He wasn't supposed to be in San Diego until Friday so I was very confused but happy he came down from Los Angeles early! I peaked my head out the blinds and saw something beautiful. There were red rose petals and candles covering the ground and Shawn was standing in the middle with a bouquet of flowers. I was shocked, which was his one goal, to surprise me. After some thoughtfully sweet words, he asked me to marry him and I couldn't get "of course I'll marry you" out of my mouth fast enough.

For us, the decision to elope was one that brought several unique emotions. On one hand, we wanted the chance to celebrate a wedding with our family and friends. On the other, we wanted a unique experience and intimate setting to allow us to focus on the moment of being with each other. After talking with our families, we realized how supportive they were and everyone loved the idea of eloping. We decided to make this the trip of our lives and one we will always remember traveling through Tanzania and Europe. The wedding is set in the Serengeti, Tanzania, with the ceremony taking place in the middle of the Savanna.
