On the last day of school before winter break, a Friday, and Sam's birthday, Ben planned his proposal. He had something amazing and sweet planned for Samantha when she got home from school that day. Per usual, Samantha stayed at work late and took her time talking to coworkers before finally getting in her car to meet Ben at home. Unaware of any surprise lurking, and with dinner still 3 hours away, Samantha asked her friend Anna to come over. Anna was coming over to help Sam take her motorcycle apart, to charge the battery, before impending rain was too fall by the end of the night. Anna and Sam took their sweet time taking Sam's bike apart, with no help from three dogs. They were in danger of postponing Ben's plans to propose before the birthday dinner. Ben was hovering around them, impatiently, offering a hand and trying to speed up the process. Eventually the bike was charging, and Anna went home. A very relieved Ben, sat on the couch and got Sam to stop moving for one second. Ben asked Sam, "Would you like your birthday present, now?" To which Samantha replied, "Duh", or something like that. Samantha had made Lego minifigs of Ben and herself for Valentines Day in 2015. Ben had used these minifigs to create a scene in one of their Lego cases. Ben asked Sam to look in their Lego case for her gift. There they were. Sam and Ben Legos, but now with Ben's minifig on one knee, holding a ring to Samantha's minifig. Shocked and so ultimately happy, Samantha turned around and yelled, "SHUT UP!!", hoping to see a non-Lego ring for her. She was not disappointed. Ben was holding a gorgeous marquise diamond ring and attempting to kneel on one knee when Samantha ran to him and knocked him over saying, "YESSSSSS! OF COURSE!" Samantha was blown away. Obviously the two were incredibly happy together and had talked about a future. But Sam had no idea that Ben was going to ask her to marry him. The dogs even jumped in to congratulate them!
