How We Met (Sharonda's Version)

Finding Love in the Midst of COVID-19

I was invited by a friend to attend a speed dating event via Zoom. Needless to say I was hesitant but I convinced another friend to join with me. The night arrives for the event and I log in and there he is. Just kidding it was nothing like that. Due to the lack of men it turned into a group speed date. Travis and I ended up in the same group and that is when I noticed him. Travis was able to hold a conversation and tell jokes that surprisingly made me laugh and he lived somewhere local which was a plus since the event was done by a church in California. I quickly messaged my friend telling her that I saw this guy and he was cute and I was considering sending him a message but was unsure. My friend told me to shoot my shot and I did. I sent the typical Brooklyn slang "YERRRRR" in hopes to get his attention. Although Travis had no idea what I was talking about he responded anyways. Speed dating was ending so we exchanged numbers to continue our conversation. That night we stayed up to 4am just talking about life and things that we wanted to accomplish. Surprisingly enough it felt so easy and comfortable I was shocked by how sincere he was about his life and plans and how he included me in them. I remember one of the first things he asked me was about my love language and being so surprised, at that point I knew he was something special but I will never admit it to him. I called my bestfriend the next day and told him " I know this may sound crazy but I think I just met my future husband". Turns out I was right.

When Travis met Sharonda ( Travis's Version)

It was a warm night on July 11th, and I heard last minute that there was a speed dating event on Zoom. I was not too optimistic because it was women from different states, and I was not into long distance relationships, but I decided to give it a try. When I got on, there were women that looked interesting but one woman stood out from the rest her name was Sharonda Murray. (it took me sometime to learn her name lol) So when she slid into my DM’s I was surprised, she asked me something like “Where Brooklyn at?” based off my introduction I was like “Right here”. I started hearing Tevin Campbell’s “Can We Talk” song in my ears as we kept messaging and as my uncle always told me if you don’t hear music when you talk it ain’t meant to be. As the speed dating was coming to an end I realized that she captivated my attention so much that I did not speak to anyone else. So we exchanged numbers and spoke for the whole night until 4am just getting to know each other and realizing our future plans were similar in where we wanted to live long term and what we want out of life. What impressed me most about her was her gentleness and willingness to hear me out and listen, I don’t know if it its because she is a therapist but I was smitten. We both had things in common and I was attracted to her not only on a physical level but on a mental level as well. As time continued, I was hooked every time the phone rang, I would hope it was her calling because she always had something interesting to talk about. I wanted to know everything about her from who were the amazing people that raised her to what type of company she keeps. Who would have known but God that Sharonda would be the woman I would want to spend the rest of my life with.

For all the days along the way
