Travis and Josephine knew each other through mutual friends and have interacted a few times throughout their college years. However, the real start of their story began in December of 2018. With some very close friends visiting from out of town for Christmas, a group of them had a get together at their friends' house. Travis and Josephine were the last ones awake and stayed up talking about life, career goals, and travel plans, while watching sports highlights on ESPN. That night Travis asked to take Josephine out to dinner and the rest is history!
On December 30th, Travis and Josephine met for a late lunch to watch the Seahawks game and eat sushi at Trapper's in Puyallup. They met at the restaurant, watched the game and chatted for hours. After the game, they went to see Travis' new house that he just got the keys to that morning. Of course, there was no furniture or appliances there, but there was wine! They attempted to open a bottle with a screw driver since there wasn't a wine opener in the house. As a result, red wine exploded onto the white kitchen cabinets, ceiling, and floor, and they found themselves standing on the counters to help each other clean everything up. They laughed and talked for several more hours and they both knew that it was the first of many memories they would make in that house.
The couple planned a trip with friends to Palm Desert and stayed at their friend's parents' house. While on this trip, Travis suggested to Josephine that the two of them go on a hike that leads to a waterfall. This was a hike that Travis had done the year before and really enjoyed. Little did Josephine know, Travis had planned for his friend, Pao, a photographer in Seattle, to also make a trip to Palm Desert to wait for them on the trail and document the special moment. During the hike, Travis led Josephine to a big rock that overlooks the area and set up his camera to take a picture. He had a speech prepared, but will tell you that he was so nervous and couldn't remember it. At this point, Josephine caught on to what was happening and started crying! That’s when he popped the question. Afterwards, they had a fun time taking photos on the trail. Meanwhile, their friends were at the house that they were all staying at, setting up decorations, food and drinks, and gifts that were sent from other friends and family. When the couple got back to the house they celebrated with some of their favorite people! It will truly be a day they will never forget!
