How We Met

8.25.12

Amidst the romantic backdrop of a college kegger, Travis and Kirsten spotted each other for the first time. Both Kirsten and Travis had just returned to NC State University after summer break. Kirsten was kicking off her sophomore year and Travis was a junior. Throughout the party both Kirsten and Travis expressed their interest in the other to their mutual friend, Nathan Poulos. Being the good host that he was, Nathan eagerly introduced them. The romantic evening ended over greasy pizza at the pizzeria conveniently located right next door to the party. Kirsten and Travis were joined by a few friends, and before the night concluded Kirsten secured Travis's phone number. She had to make sure that he got home safe, of course. This is how their romance began. Never underestimate the power of cheap beer and cheaper pizza.

Dating

2013-2019

In February 2013, Kirsten & Travis became an 'official' item. Within a few months of dating, they fell in love and finished their college years hand-in-hand. After college, they moved into a house with two other roommates and began navigating the 'real world' together, starting their first full-time jobs in their home city, Raleigh, NC. In 2016, after a year of living with 3 boys and 2 dogs, Kirsten packed up their bags and they moved into their first apartment together. Over the next year, they enjoyed making their 2-bedroom apartment feel like home until they realized something was missing... In August 2017, Travis and Kirsten had their first fur baby. They adopted Jax, their new puppy, from a local animal rescue and became a 'family' of 3. Not ready to settle down and live in an apartment forever, they moved on to bigger things in October 2018, closing on their first home in mid-west Raleigh. Even though Travis and Kirsten have moved around quite a bit, they've always been each other's constant. Throughout the years they've enjoyed traveling together to visit friends and family all over the map, from New Jersey and D.C., to Colorado and Vermont, just to name a few. They've even had the privilege of experiencing spring break together in the Bahamas and celebrating Christmas with family in Cancun. Nowadays you can often find them working on a home improvement project, whipping up a meal in #KirstensKitchen, taking Jax all over North Carolina (he loves to travel as much as his humans) or simply enjoying the comfort of their new home as they get ready for the big day!

The Proposal

2.16.19

After learning that their friends would be moving back to Raleigh from Asheville, NC, Travis and Kirsten planned a spur-of-the-moment mountain weekend. They were visiting their friends Nathan and Shelby, and were joined on the trip by their other friends, Blake and Bridget. The group enjoyed a night out in Asheville after arriving late on Friday evening. The next morning, after enjoying breakfast at the house, everyone got ready to head to Pisgah National Forest for a short hike. Kirsten was sporting a baseball cap and her sexiest fanny pack, equipped with treats for Jax. The group enjoyed leisurely hiking through Pisgah National Forest; Jax was especially enthusiastic, which made the hike that much more enjoyable for Travis and Kirsten. After making it the their final destination, Catawba Falls, everyone took time to enjoy the views and get some photos. The group hung around at the top of the falls for about 20 minutes. Just before they were getting ready to head back down the trail, Kirsten asked Travis to take one last picture of her and Jax. She posed on a log with Jax sitting next to her and gave Travis directions on how to get the best shot. As Kirsten got up from posing with Jax and reached out to retrieve her phone from Travis, he smoothly started to pull a ring from his pocket and got down on one knee. Kirsten truly couldn't fathom what was happening and fell completely speechless. In fact, Travis had to remind her to answer his question. Of course, she said yes! Following the proposal, Travis and Kirsten got to enjoy the reaction from their friends, who were equally as surprised as Kirsten. With the exception of Nathan, who was given a heads up so he could capture the moment on his GoPro, none of them knew Travis planned to pop the question that day. They all spent the rest of their trip celebrating Travis and Kirsten's engagement. It was a dream come true!

To Forever

10.14.2021

Travis and Kirsten are incredibly excited to say "I do!" They wouldn't be where they are today without the love and support from their friends and family. They're truly grateful for each and every one of you and the impact you've had on them, and they can't wait to dance the night away as husband and wife at their wedding reception. So bring your dancing shoes, and join them as they embark on this next chapter!
