Our Plan

Save YOUR Dates

We’re so happy that you’re excited about our upcoming wedding. This year, we all need things to celebrate, and we’re currently enjoying the newly engaged glow. Unfortunately, COVID has presented us with some really big questions as we begin wedding planning. In an effort to be healthy and fill our time with love, we are planning to have a very intimate ceremony on April 1, 2021 with immediate family. Our plan is to have multiple smaller and more intimate receptions all over the world. This way we can cherish each moment with every single person we would have had at the ceremony if circumstances were different. Save Your Dates will be mailed to each of our loved ones. Please view our schedule tab to see our pre planned ideas for our receptions around the world and RSVP to the one you would like to attend. If you are unable to attend our current dates and/or locations, please reach out to us as we would love to try to accommodate you. Our overall mission is to be able to spend time celebrating this exciting moment in our lives with the people we love. Can't wait to see you!

How we met

Love at First Bite

Carly lived with her longtime friend Fraser in October, 2019 and he consistently left her out of his plans in fear of his friends falling deeply in love with her. After persistent questioning, Carly was finally invited to Fraser's birthday dinner at "Whiskey Wednesday". Zan, a longtime family friend of Fraser, has hosted Whiskey Wednesdays at his home for the past 3 years, where his friends share steak and whiskey. With little information apart from an address, and directions to bring a steak and a bottle of wine, Carly decided to go anyways. Carly walked in without knocking to Zan's surprise and he immediately made her feel at home. He poured her wine, cooked her meal, and even shared his tomahawk steak. Fraser was right. The rest is history.

What We've Been Up To

Living the Dream in Quarantine

What started out as a life of constant activity with our social circles, including Jaguars Football games, the various festivals Jacksonville has to offer, or catching some rays on a rooftop bar for happy hour, it quickly changed when the pandemic struck. Luckily, we had each other. We now have a newfound appreciation for time spent lounging around the house, simply enjoying each others company. We've spent time cooking, baking, and even making our own pasta. To fight off the Covid19 (lbs.), we also got outdoors much more. Walking around the neighborhood, kayaking, hiking, and even just hanging in the hammock at the park allowed us to spend more time outdoors. Carly even started a garden! We had to run the air conditioning all year, because our house got hotter by two degrees! It wasn't all fun and games during quarantine. We both completed our Masters degrees this past year, and found unique ways to celebrate. From zoom calls with friends from around the country, to yard signs sneakily delivered and set up in the early morning hours. In addition, Carly started her first job as a Speech Language Pathologist in the Duval county school system. As we learned over the summer, when Carly did not have a job yet, she handles free time poorly. To fix this problem, and save Zan's sanity, she got a second job at a private practice to fill her summer months off! Carly was not the only one to make money moves, though. Zan achieved his dream promotion to Sustainability Program manager. Cleary there has not been a lack champagne bottle pops!

The Engagement

December 30, 2020

Zan proposing: an event gambled on more than this years Kentucky Derby. Everyone knew it was coming. Everyone saw the signs. Everyone took the hints. Except for Carly. She knew it would happen one day, but who knew it would be THAT day, or the day before, or the day before that. Zan had been prepared to propose for over a month, but he couldn’t get Carly’s dad alone for long enough to ask him. Quickly after Zan talked to Carly’s dad, they left for a trip to North Carolina. Zan dressed nice for the 8 hour car ride, Carly wore crocs. Zan and Carly had a beautifil day of skiing and there was a beautiful sunset. Zan was once again dressed nice. Naturally, Carly wears crocs and sweat pants. Another day goes by and they plan a trip into Asheville with Zan’s mom. Carly finally wears something other than crocs. They take a stroll around town and talk about wanting pictures in the snow before leaving town the next morning. The sun is quickly setting to Zan’s dispair, but of course, Carly wants pizza. As you can see, Carly is missing Every. Single. Sign. They finally leave town and make it to the pond where Zan went fishing as a child. They go to take pictures in the snow as planned. Zan brought Carly into a hug, then got down on one knee and started to say the 4 words she had been waiting for since the moment they met.
