Chad was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Soon after graduating from Oregon State University, he pursued his dream of becoming a golf course superintendent. Taking his grandfather's advice, "you have to go where the work is", he moved to Southern Oregon for 10 years and has lived in California for the last 12 years. Trang was born in Vietnam. After the Vietnam War, her family escaped and lived in refugee camps in Thailand, Cambodia, and The Philippines for nearly 3 years. At the end of 1983, their journey to freedom led them to Beaumont, Texas. Trang was 12 years old and started in the 7th grade. In 1993, she graduated from The University of the Pacific and has been working as a school counselor for the past 22 years. On June 8th, 2018, Trang and Chad met through eHarmony; although, some were told they met at "church". Chad had two rules: no dating anyone over 100 miles away and would not relocate. Despite the rules, Chad drove from L.A. to Sacramento to meet Trang (370 miles!). He continued driving to Sacramento for the next 2 years. In October 2020, Chad drove up to Sacramento on a COVID Sunday afternoon, stood in front of Trang's door... asked her to marry him. On January 31st, 2021, Chad broke his second rule and made his final drive from L.A. to Sacramento where they now call home.
