Our Engagement Story

After twelve years together — twelve years of growing up, growing closer, and choosing each other through every season — our engagement happened on a day that felt beautifully, unmistakably us. On February 15th, 2026, we set out for one of our favorite simple adventures: a drive up to Julian, CA for pies. Tram (Tammy) never says no to pies, and Adam knows this well. The drive up those winding two‑lane mountain roads was its usual mix of pretty views and mild road rage. We’re the kind of people who pull over to let faster drivers pass, mostly so we can complain about them in peace. That tiny habit ended up being the perfect disguise for what Adam had planned. In Julian, we wandered around town like we had nowhere else to be — grabbing a beer, sharing some pizza, smelling candles we absolutely didn’t need, and taking our sweet time. Normally we’re there for the pies and then we are out, but that day we lingered, soaking up the time together. Once we had our fill of Julian, and more importantly we finally got our pies, Adam offered to drive home. As we headed down the mountain, he pulled over a couple of times to let cars pass — nothing suspicious. Then we reached an open field at golden hour, and he pulled over again. Still nothing suspicious. Truly, Tram (Tammy) was not connecting any dots. Adam suggested we get out to take pictures while waiting for more cars to pass. The light was golden, the field was quiet, and it felt like a small pause in the world. When we got further into the field, Adam reached into his coat pocket, pulled out a wooden box, and dropped to one knee. Tram’s eyes finally caught up to the moment. It was just us, the sunset, and twelve years of love, growth, and inside jokes wrapped into one perfect, emotional moment. No audience, no elaborate setup — just a field, a ring, and two people who’ve been choosing each other for over a decade. And yes, the pies were delicious.
