Give or take 5 days. One cool fall evening, Tracey walked into the Vero Uptown Bar on the Upper East Side in New York City. She was in her 3rd year of college and had just finished a photo shoot assignment with a classmate at the MET close by. As they ordered drinks at the bar, she couldn't help but feel surprised she'd never been there before, despite living just a block away. Christopher had just returned to the family business as the GM just one month prior. He was a bit of a daredevil and had been in the process of obtaining his skydiving license. Chris spotted the "cute Asian girl" at the bar and walked up to show off his recent skydiving video, to his bartender. But really, it was to get her attention. Tracey noticed. And the rest was history. PS. Vero Uptown has since closed but we kept a framed piece of our history from the wall (see below).
13 months after Chris and Tracey met - she was waiting for the crosstown bus on 34th street after work when he called and said, "There's this new work opportunity out west..." She was excited for him, for this new adventure together, so she said let's go. They moved into their first apartment in California on March 1st, 2014. California became the nurturing ground for their personal and professional growth as they navigated through their 20s and 30s. Christopher embarked on a career change while Tracey went back to graduate school. They journeyed from SoCal to NorCal (a distinction that only matters to locals ;)), and moved through 4 apartments in 9 years. Together, they faced challenges and triumphs, quarantined through the pandemic, adopted Darth Pickles, and found community and their love for nature. In California, they grew to be "Chris & Tracey". Deciding on a location for their wedding celebration was no easy task, given the distance from their respective families in China and the East Coast. But the San Francisco Bay area felt right because this is where Chris and Tracey had grown as individuals and as a couple.
This is not just a celebration of a new chapter but also to toast to all the previous chapters of our life together - 4424 days in the making. We are ecstatic to celebrate with you all and can't thank you enough for making the trip, especially those who are traveling from across and abroad. We hope you have some time to explore and enjoy where the sea meets the forest and where our love has grown. See you soon! Love, Tracey & Chris
