We met through one of Heather's best friends. We first started talking while Josh was traveling for a documentary and then eventually made plans to meet in Chicago while Heather was in town visiting her cousin. Josh moved back to his hometown of Las Vegas shortly after, which began our long distance relationship between Vegas and Phoenix. We were constantly flying or driving back and forth each month to visit each other while Heather was in nursing school. Our long distance relationship lasted about two years until we finally moved into our first home together in Phoenix. After about a year and a half we decided to move to Las Vegas, which is where we are currently living with our two dogs (Wren and Sadie).
Josh surprised Heather with new hiking boots as an early Christmas present in December. For our 6 year anniversary he made plans for us to go on a hike at Mt. Charleston in Las Vegas for her to break them in. There was just a little bit of snow on the ground at the time and we decided to go off the beaten path down a hill. Heather lost her footing and fell, which made Josh more nervous because he was planning to propose (spoiler alert) once they found "the view." Everything was okay besides a couple scrapes, so we continued on. We found a crest with a gorgeous view. Josh asked Heather to turn around and close her eyes after taking in the view. Except Heather "accidentally" opened her eyes and saw Josh's shadow kneeling onto the ground behind her. She turned around and that's when Josh popped the question! The rest is history.
