Torrie and Jacob technically go way back...all the way to Sussex Tech High School, but it wasn’t until Torrie moved to Dagsboro, right behind Jacob’s parents’ house, that their story really began. They had already started chatting when fate (and a bachelor trip) stepped in. Jacob happened to be on the trip with Torrie’s brother, Chris, where the two realized Torrie was basically Jacob’s new neighbor. Chris gave his stamp of approval, calling Jacob a “good guy,” and not long after, Torrie took the first step and invited him to a friend’s birthday party at Sunset Grille in Ocean City as an official date night. Little did the rest of the group know — it was actually their first date. One guest, who didn’t even know either of them, pulled Jacob aside and said, “If you don’t marry that girl, you’re messing up big time.” Well… here we are!

With Jacob traveling so often for work, we created a little tradition to make the distance feel a bit sweeter. We say “Merry Christmas Eve” the day before he comes home and “Merry Christmas” the morning he drives back, because every time we see each other, it feels just like Christmas morning. As we stood in front of the dazzling Christmas tree at Magic Kingdom during the Christmas party, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was our perfect magical moment—our very own Disney Christmas fairytale.
