How It All Started

Who would've thought something good would come out of Salazar Hall?

David and Linda met in college almost 10 years ago, where they attended Cal State LA. They were both in the business program and met in a Management course with Professor Alexander. During first day introductions, Alexander (who looked a lot like a washed out Alec Baldwin LOL) asked everyone to go one by one in front of class to state their name, major, and a fun fact. This was the worst part of starting a new class for Linda as she was always super nervous to speak in front of a group of people that she didn't know. Her goal was to go up talk about herself as quickly as possible and sit back down. So, she goes up to the front of the room and says, "Hi, my name is Linda and I'm a Business Admin Major, concentration in Human Resources. My fun fact is that I love to cook, but I absolutely hate people in my kitchen." She then bee-lined back to her desk and blocked out everything from nervousness. Now from David's point of view (this is something Linda learned after being with David for several years), he thought her introduction was different and funny. So in a room filled of strangers, who were all quiet, he laughed at her 'fun fact'. That is where Linda made an imprint on David forever.

Our First Date

He took her on a date night under the stars

If you know David, you know he's a movie fanatic. It was inevitable that their first date that he planned would be going to the movies. He knew that Linda wanted something different and decided to plan a date night at a drive in movie theater (I know, those are still around?). As much as he hates Rom Coms, he sucked it up and bought tickets for 'This Means War', which was a total chick flick. We're talking two best guy friends who end up falling in love with the same girl without even knowing it! (catchy right?) He toughed through it because he knew that's what would make Linda happy.

The Proposal (pt. 1)

Don’t Seattle for anything less than perfect.

It was the summer of 2019. Linda and David planned a trip to Seattle with Linda's sister, Rebecca and her family, where they planned to celebrate Linda’s birthday and promotion. What better way to keep the celebration going, than to add on a proposal? The day started with exploring Seattle as typical tourists. First stop was Pike Place for Ellenos Yogurt, checking out the Prince Exhibit at the Museum of Pop Culture, then finally the infamous Chulily Garden. There was a part of the garden where David 'pretended' to go down on knee, but Linda told him to ‘stop messing around. If Rebecca sees you, she’s going to run over here like a crazy lady pushing people out of the way’. They laughed it off and continued through the garden. Since the day was still young, Linda suggested going to Kerry Park since it was nearby. David went into full panic mode, as he knew that that was ideal spot he'd propose. With that moving up earlier on their schedule (yes, they had a schedule), he knew this was show time! To be continued....

The Proposal (pt. 2)

Don't Seattle for anything less than perfect

They make it over to Kerry Park just in time for sunset. David asks Rebecca to help take some pictures with the Seattle skyline behind them. When David checked if the picture was okay, he was like ‘oh, can you take another one, I have my backpack on’ (this should’ve been a clue if Linda was paying attention). As Linda was sitting on the ledge waiting for David, he winks at Rebecca as a signal and he's down on bended knee. Linda was in shock, David was so nervous that he looked like he was holding his breath. During this time, it felt like time froze and there was no one else around but just them two. They both stare at each other for a moment until David realized that he never said the words. He finally pops the question & Linda says “YES!”. Everyone around started cheering & saying congratulations. After the proposal, the sun had set and it started getting chilly. Linda suggested that they head out for dinner, but Rebecca kept insisting to stay longer, which was a little weird, but David and Linda were so overwhelmed with joy to care. As they were texting everyone announcing their engagement, someone runs up the Linda and hugs her from behind. Turns out her whole family flew in from LA to surprise them! Family means so much to Linda, so having them there for this special moment meant the world to her. It's everything Linda could've asked for. This Seattle is definitely one for the books!

For all the days along the way
