Immediately after moving to South Carolina, Josh was introduced to Kelley by a mutual friend. There is no story of their eyes locking and love at first sight. Certainly not a fairy tale start, nor a sappy obvious love connection. The two shared a few good memories, but drifted apart. Some years later, Kelley was out on a (and she actually wants to emphasize these air quotes here) “date” downtown at one of Josh’s favorite places to go after work. The guy that Kelley was “dating” at the time, happened to be another friend of Josh’s. They all sat together and caught up, talking for a long while about the memories they had made those years ago. After that night, Kelley and Josh stayed in contact much more frequently. A few months later, Thanksgiving 2017, neither Josh nor Kelley had anywhere to be, so they decided to spend it together. He invited Kelley to the house and persuaded her with a rotisserie chicken and some instant mashed potatoes. Kelley on the other hand, one upped him with her family recipe for dressing (stuffing for the northerners). Weeks later, Josh invited Kelley to fly to New York to meet his family. January 2018, Kelley spent her first brutally honest northern cold experience, surrounded by his family. On the way home from the airport after dropping Kelley off, Josh and his dad had a heart to heart. Not wanting to ruin the friendship, Josh did not want to say how he was really feeling to Kelley. After Josh's dad gave him the push he needed, Josh exerted "patience" and texted Kelley about 5 seconds after she landed in Philly to make sure she made it ok. In the very next text, Josh let Kelley know how he felt. Although being a bit taken aback and in the middle of the Philly Airport, Kelley agreed that she loved the memories, the time spent, and that when Josh got home, they would talk. Needless to say, no conversation was had or needed. And here we are: 4 years later!
