Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Jaclyn Boozalis and John MacKay
Welcome to Austin, where we Keep Things Weird! Not that we're biased, but we love it here. There's great outdoor activities, fun live music, some history, and plenty of places to find incredible food. Here's a list of some of our favorite spots that we'd love to share with you! You can also find tons of websites (http://do512.com) which list different events around town.
Biker Gang tour

Biker Gang tour

506 Walsh Street, Austin, TX 78703
, (512) 893-6833

A great way to explore the city! It's an electric bike tour through the city. Hannah got me this tour for my birthday a couple years ago, and I found some cool new sights and views I hadn't seen before! 10/10 would recommend!

Zilker Park

Zilker Park

2207 Lou Neff Road, Austin, TX 78746
, (512) 974-6700

This is actually dog heaven. This is a huge off-leash dog park in the heart of the city! There's a beautiful view of the skyline, so it's a wonderful spot to hang out with furry friends and have a picnic!

Zilker Botanical Garden

Zilker Botanical Garden

2220 Barton Springs Road, Austin, TX 78746
, (512) 477-8672

This is where John proposed! Stop by the Prehistoric Garden to find the exact spot. Olive loved sniffing all the plants here, so she's a fan too.

South Congress (SoCo)

South Congress (SoCo)

1300 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

Hit up SoCo! It's a nice place to stroll and do some window shopping, snacking, or eating. Some of our favorite spots to visit are Home Slice Pizza, Allens Boots, Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds, and Jo's Coffee to take a picture at the "i love you so much." sign!

Lady Bird Lake

Lady Bird Lake

Austin, TX 78746
, (512) 459-0999

Take a break on the Lake! There are plenty of places in the city to snag a kayak, standing paddle board, or canoe (Rowing Dock, Texas Rowing Center, Zilker Park Boat Rentals, etc). Or, you can forgo the workout and take a boat tour or take a stroll on the Lady Bird Boardwalk!

Congress Avenue Bridge

Congress Avenue Bridge

Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704
, (512) 364-0759

If you're there in time for sunset, you can see the largest urban colony of bats take flight from under the bridge!

Texas Capitol

Texas Capitol

1100 Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78701
, (512) 463-4630

Take a tour of the state capitol! There's some interesting history inside!

Barton Creek Greenbelt

Barton Creek Greenbelt

3755 South Capital of Texas Highway, Austin, TX 78704
, (512) 974-6700

If you're looking for hiking, swimming, mountain biking, rock climbing, or bird watching that's right in the middle of the city, head to the Greenbelt! There are multiple entrances, so I'd recommend checking out the website above to pick the right one for you!

Mount Bonnell

Mount Bonnell

Austin, TX 78731

A beautiful view just a short hike up some stairs! A great spot for viewing the sun set over Austin.

Rainey Street

600 River St, Austin, TX 78701

This is where the cool kids go to party at night. There are bars, hotels, and a food truck lot! Parking can be a liiiiiittle expensive and hard to find (if you do go, park at the Mexican American Cultural Center). Some of our fave spots are Icenhauer's and Container Bar.

6th Street

6th Street, Austin, TX

This is one of the places that keeps Austin weird! There's breweries, bars, restaurants, shows, and most importantly-- live music! Some of the spots we've enjoyed are Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, Lazarus Brewing, and Irene's.

Tex Mex Restaurants!

1728 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704
, (512) 474-4452

There are so many choices! Some of our favorite places are Chuy's, Matt's El Rancho, Taco Joint, Maudie's. Grab yourself a margarita, maybe a combo plate with enchiladas and some tacos, and enjoy!

Eat BBQ!

Some of our favorite barbeque spots around town are Terry Black's and Valentina's, but there are tons of amazing choices! For something quick and easy, Rudy's BBQ (a chain) gets the job done.
