OUR LOVE STORY

"Consolidate"

Tosin: It began in 2019 while Kayode was on a business trip in New Jersey. Kay was a frequent customer at our restaurant where I manage. This blessed Sunday evening, he walked into the restaurant very hungry and with a desire to dine in. It was few minutes to closing time and dine-in was already closed. He was rather asked to do take out instead, which he reluctantly agreed to. Kayode: About an hour later, I was back to my hotel room, shoes and shirt off, and ready to eat and then relax. Fortunately, there were no utensils in the bag. This got me a bit upset since I was prepared to enjoy my dinner. I called the restaurant back to voice my annoyance. Fortunately again, the restaurant had closed by then and I left them a voicemail. Tosin: When I heard Kay’s voicemail the following day, I called him to state our apologies but he was enroute to CA so I too left him a voicemail. When we finally got a hold of each other he said, “following up is a great customer service by the way” and he promised to patronize us again when he’s in town, which he did on a numerous occasion before end of 2019. Tosin: Fast-forward to 2020. During one of Kay’s food pickups, we said our usual ‘hi and bye’ and he later proceeded to ask if I can separate his soup as the oil tends to leak. I gladly did so and locked it in my mind as one of his requests for his orders. Two days later, I noticed his order was not properly bagged as I rang him up. This next statement I said is what Kay would describe as ‘love at first sight’ lol. I proceeded to ask if I can “consolidate” the bags into one bag. Kayode: It was the word consolidate that caught my attention. A moment later, our conversation went beyond the usual hi and bye, and before we knew it, we've already exchanged numbers, and that was the beginning of our love story! This is indeed ‘A Match, Made in Heaven’, and we're grateful to God for writing our love story in such a divine way and navigating us to the right place at the right time
