He’s from the misty mountains of Oregon. She’s from the colorful heart of Mexico City, raised on the salty breeze of Galveston, Texas. We met as coworkers (or “associates,” depending on who you ask) at a high school in Southern Oregon—and somehow went from sharing classrooms to sharing Google Calendars, house duties, road trips, and many adventures. We started as total opposites. He’s the quiet one—into soccer, hiking, and deep philosophical rabbit holes. She’s the spontaneous adventurer who once massaged a tiger and regularly terrifies her parents with her bucket list. Despite our differences, we became best friends—and then something more. Our first official date was on a tiny island in Belize. Romantic, right? After many vacations The proposal later came after 3 years ... well, if you count walking 106 miles across Spain on the Camino de Santiago as “courting.” We taught abroad, fell in love with travel (and each other), and even survived a spring in Valencia with a landlady who smeared cat poop around our kitchen to prove a point. (Still not sure what that point was.) Since then, we’ve built a life full of laughter, faith, love, and teamwork. Whether we’re planning lessons, planning travels, or planning dinner, we do it better together. Now, we’re saying “I do” and turning the page to our next big adventure: marriage.
