Tori Bakey and Tony Urban in a nutshell: Almost always laughing, wearing the same sweatshirt, speaking sarcastically, or putting themselves in an unavoidable awkward situation. Thank goodness for Hooch (although his quirks include constant hanging side-tongue). Tori and Tony bond over brunch, white-mint chocolate chip ice cream, puppies, coffee, and pizza. And best of all, they give a mean rendition of Meatloaf's song "Paradise by the Dashboard Light."

Meet-Cute

Miller Lite Success Story

July 4, 2016 It all started with a lite, cold beer. Tori & Tony's Mute-Cute occurred on good ol' America's birthday. Thanks to a mutual friend named Brett, the two met at a bar called Westies in Wildwood, New Jersey amongst a crowd of friends. But thanks to another friend, Bouncer-Frank, the two were ultimately separated (don't worry, he's now a close friend). It should be noted at this part in the story that Tori didn't meet just any old Tony that night- she met "2016 Tony" - a self-proclaimed nickname to highlight his "second peak in life." Unbeknownst to Tori, her childhood best friend Brett (who introduced them) knew "2016 Tony" from years of playing baseball together. After college, the two reconnected at a local, South Jersey Crossfit gym that Tori also attended called 643. While Tori had heard Brett speak of Tony, especially that 4th of July weekend, she thought "said Tony" was a middle-aged man...that is until that fateful night at Westies. There's a lot of stories and silliness that circle Tori and Tony's meet-cute, but perhaps the most telling aspect of that very first night was the setting: tons of friends, who all love each other too much, singing too loudly, and sharing Miller Lites. That setting has become the theme of their lives and it's that type of love we'll be celebrating on October 14, 2022! ... **What's a meet-cute? Have you never seen a chick flick... in movies/ tv a meet cute is a scene in which the two people who will form a future romantic couple meet for the first time, typically under unusual, humorous, or cute circumstances. This type of scene is a staple of romantic comedies.

The Proposal

Tori, Please wash your hair

January 16, 2021 Tori woke up on January 16th to clean the house in preparation for her ultimate pizza-themed birthday party! To prepare? She pulled a Monica Gellar, cleaning everything from baseboards to the vacuum cleaner, all while wearing crocks, 4-day old hair, and baggy sweats. Poor Tony. Cleaning was not his plan. Proposing was. As Tori scrubbed, Tony pleaded for her to shower (not out of the ordinary), but Tori was stubborn (also not out of the ordinary). After all, he was having the proposal photographed! He tried everything, even having friends text Tori to meet up earlier then planned to help fast-track the shower. Let the record show: Tori did in fact shower before the proposal. Finally, the two went to brunch (a shared favorite pastime) at the Tortilla Press, where Tony disappeared to the bathroom several times (making sneaky phone calls). When it was time to head back, Tony suggested they walk along Haddon Ave. (where they LOVE walking their pup Hooch ) since the town was still decorated from the holidays...most of it anyway. As the main fountain came in to view, the two noticed the town's Christmas Tree was missing. Where could it be? This was cause for concern. So when Tony enlisted fellow detective Tori to approach the crime scene closer, he received a resounding yes (Tony is trained & Tori watches SVU). As they approached the fountain, Tori saw Tony reach for his pocket (Tori's brain: WHAT IS IN HIS POCKET). He said, “before we go back I need to ask you something.” Before she knew it, Tony was on his knee, & Tori was asking “wait, right now?" Following the evolution of SHOCKED to YES, Tori turned to see her friends, family, & pup celebrating across the street. Tony nailed it. A day of cleaning, eating, & being with their favorite people. The ultimate proposal. AND in case you were wondering, Tori still got her pizza party with all of their friends waiting back at the house. But even better then planned: she got the most HANDSOME FIANCE.
