Our mutual friend (and officiant) Shelby hosted a game night at her house. Apparently, Shelby had thought TJ and I would be a good fit for a while but the timing just never worked out quite right. About a week before game night, TJ jokingly asked Shelby if she had any cute single friends, and that was when her scheming started. Unbeknownst to me, Shelby planned to set up TJ and I at game night. I walked in blind, while TJ and all our mutual friends were in on the plan. I walked in late (because I had to work that night) and the group was playing “Ride the Bus”. TJ was the dealer and the first words he ever spoke to me were, “red or black?” We hit it off really well and when Shelby pulled me into the kitchen to ask if she could give TJ my number, I finally caught on to the scheming. TJ and I ended up talking until almost 5 AM that night before I finally had to go home. Before I even made it to my car, TJ texted me and said “Let me know when you’re home safe?” He did fail to introduce himself but luckily, I was able to put context clues together. After game night, we started texting regularly and getting to know each other better. Our first date was 11 days after we first met and I guess you can say the rest is history!
