While serving as a minister in residence in Alumni Hall at Assumption College, Mickey reached out to the new Resident Director, Tori, in August of 2016. Via email the two agreed to meet for breakfast to discuss how they might be able to work together in serving first year students in their residence hall. That morning Mickey expected to be eating across from a mid 30s woman, well into her career accompanied by her team of cats, while Tori had her eyes peeled for an older, slightly overweight, probably balding priest already wearing his collar after prepping that morning's mass. Eyebrows rose as the two locked eyes from across the dining hall and both scrambled to compose themselves without looking too surprised. As the two began getting to know each other, the sriracha on their eggs was not the only thing heating up. Throughout their conversation, they opened up in ways they never have before because it was clear that there was a natural connection and both walked away knowing that their time together was real and deep. From this, a beautiful friendship began where both Mickey and Tori encouraged each other to deepen their faith in Christ which ultimately led them to feel called into a loving relationship.
