It was a humid autumn evening, and classes were set to begin at Tiffin University in a few days. Tori gets told there is a party at the baseball house at 130 Apple Street, aka (The Dirty One Thirty). Tori walks in with her new lacrosse teammates, ready to get rambunctious. No more than 3 minutes into walking into the raving party, she is star-struck. She gazes upon this young George Clooney looking like fellow. He was wearing a safari-themed button-down shirt... that is not a typo. Garrett was wearing a tan button-down shirt that had giraffes, lions, and zebras on it. It took no time for Garrett to see the cute brunette, and he introduced himself. Clearly, Garrett has a way with words because his attire wasn't impressing anyone that night. Shortly after, they dated and haven't looked back since. The two walked away from Tiffin University, each with a degree in one hand and locked hands with the other ready to conquer the 'Real World'... The button-down safari shirt was shortly gifted to the Tiffin Goodwill Store at Tori's request.
The proposal was something only two pure geniuses could come up with. Garrett and his future sister-in-law Emily would come up with a plan to sweep Tori off her feet. The plan was simple really, have Tori walk through the Noerenberg Memorial Garden with her grandparents and sister. She was dressed enchantingly because in her mind she was going out to dinner after. For whatever reason, she believed her dad and Garrett were out fishing. In reality, Garrett was at the end of the garden on the boathouse patio above the water. With the ring in his pocket, he knew he was about to make the greatest decision of his life. He reserved the boathouse patio online, but two couples thought they should enjoy the view as Tori approached. He asked nicely if he could use the space because he was getting ready to propose. One of the guys decided to be a jokester and say no. Garrett sternly said, "I will throw you in the water." The dingbat eventually left. The rest of Tori's immediate family was watching as well. When Tori saw Garrett and realized what was about to happen, she cried and said "no" a couple of times. She kept saying "no" because she didn't want to admit she was surprised. He got down on one knee and after 17 "no's," she said yes to the most important question. There was a big surprise party with all the loved ones afterward where we celebrated in rejoice because, during a hectic year, we now have something to celebrate!
What Is The Most Spontaneous Thing We Have Ever Done? Summer of 2016, Garrett flew up to see Tori in Minnesota, and we decided to drive out and back 14 hours to visit family in Montana. After we made it back to Minnesota, we finished the summer by heading the 13 hours to Tiffin. What Is Our Most Memorable Trip? When Tori was coaching in New York, we met up in Buffalo for our anniversary. We decided to go skiing, which Garrett does not know how to do, thus quickly turning into a hot mess. Tori caught him listening to Skiing for Dummies in the corner of the room after a couple of failed attempts to conquer the bunny hill. What's Our Favorite Activity Together? Our new favorite for us is disc golfing!! Let's meet up and go! Do you have any pets? We have an Aussiedoodle named Mocha! She is the bestest girl in all the land!! She would've been Garrett's Best-Dog if she could've traveled the 12 hours here.
