A blind date that turned out to be great!

We were made for each other.

On September 25, 1995, We were introduced by his best friend William Perry Jones II. I was in community college at El Centro College downtown Dallas. William said that he wanted me to meet his friend, and I said I was not dating for a very long time because I wanted to be by myself. He said could he give my number to him, after about two weeks of asking I said yes. Elbert called me and we talked as if we knew each other for years. We talked on the phone for two months before I actually met with him. I was meeting him at my school and I forgot that sociology class we were meeting in the library that day, so he came to an empty dark room. He was upset about it and he finally met me at 2:30pm, he was there like he was a student. I was supposed to be going to lunch, but I ended up going to volleyball practice and my African American Student Alliance meeting. When I saw him he was tall and handsome. After this first meeting he asked me on a date. We went to Bennigans. He said I could get what I wanted , and I said I was not eating just a salad. He chuckled. From this point we were inseparable. We spend everyday talking more getting to know each other and every weekend he would come from Fort Hood to see me or I would go there. In December, he secretly asked my Daddy could he have his blessing to marry me, and he gave the blessing and I am sure a few more words. We were arguing while I was driving him to the bus station, I don’t remember what we were arguing about, he went to take his bags to the bus. When he came back to say goodbye, I was mad and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in the middle of the bus station, I said yes, he placed the ring on my finger, and I cried like a baby. We embraced and kissed. Then he went back to Fort Hood. He got orders to go to Kuwait and I was going to basic training. Went to JP on 8/19 and departed each other 8/20. This is how our love story started. Now 25years later we still are in love with each other.
