Toria was born 6th into a family of 7 children. After a somewhat traumatic birth, she had quite an ideal childhood, growing up in small town Minnesota, playing in the woods in the backyard, biking to the park down the block, playing recreational soccer every summer, and learning at home from a brilliant teacher: mom. She has always been adored by her parents, grandparents, and siblings, who became her best friends. At the age of 4, she received God's gift of salvation, and this has shaped her life ever since. Also somewhere around that age, she decided she wanted to become a nurse--so she did. Graduating from The University of Northwestern in 2018, she worked on a medical unit until January of this year when she took a new position on the endoscopy unit at the St. Cloud Hospital. She loves being active, doing CrossFit with her sisters, playing volleyball every chance she gets, and making good use of summer temperatures to be outside on the lake or playing pickleball at the neighborhood courts. She is known for being organized, honest, and intensely loyal to the people she loves.
Jordan was born in South Africa into the middle of a busy, joyful missionary family. As a child, he loved being outside, playing sports, exploring, and generally causing trouble. His life in South Africa (and Congo) was shaped by his parents ministry, and he learned to adapt quickly and love spontaneity. He also grew to love Jesus and chose to follow him at the age of 5 years old. He moved to the United States in 2019 for work and education opportunities. He spent a year working at the St. Cloud Hospital, where he thoroughly enjoyed the chance to love and serve people. In November of 2021, he accepted an apprentice position at 5 Star Heating and Plumbing. Jordan loves activity: playing spikeball, pickleball, volleyball, and disc golf whenever possible. CrossFit has become a regular part of his life, and he is a part time coach at his gym. Jordan is known for enjoying people--if Jordan has met you, he likes you. He is always down for a game, a movie, or a new project, and he takes great delight in being helpful whenever there is a need he can meet.
We met through our respective best friends who ended up marrying each other. Actually, the first significant amount of time we spent together was with four other people all crammed into a Ford Flex on a road trip to Arizona. Being the two smallest in the group, we were squashed into the back and spent hours and hours watching Chuck on Toria's phone. Over the next few years, we spent a lot more time together and developed a strong friendship as we discovered how much we had in common. We fell in love doing the normal, everyday stuff of life: working long nights at the hospital, playing countless hours of Wingspan, skipping CrossFit to spend the afternoon disc golfing, and learning to make a medium-rare filet mignon. We got engaged on August 21st, 2021, on the back deck of Toria's house, under a pergola with cantina lights, surrounded by flowers. Jordan made dinner (filet mignon), Micale awkwardly excused herself to "go deliver pesto" to a friend then sneaked upstairs to take photos, Jordan waited patiently while Toria took forever and a half to finish her food, Jordan knelt on one knee, pulling a gorgeous ring out of a nearby flower pot, Toria said yes and cried and took the ring. And thus began a new chapter of deeper commitment, intensive learning, and tons and tons of dreaming and planning.
