Our Story

Tori and I (Calvin) first met during our sophomore year at the Princeton Christian Fellowship (PCF) fall retreat in Ocean City, NJ. “Met” might be generous, since we hardly spoke to one another: Tori was battling a severe cold that kept her mostly cooped up in her bedroom, and when she did appear, I found myself entranced from afar. Unbeknownst to me, she apparently gazed upon me with similar favor. Our big breakthrough came once we returned to campus, when providence found us seated side-by-side at a PCF dining hall brunch. Our conversation grew deep surprisingly fast (Tori says I asked penetrating questions), and I soon realized Tori was not only physically beautiful, but also graceful in intellect and spirit. Totally starstruck, I resolved myself to ask Tori to another brunch later that week. A mutual friend wisely cautioned me not to call it a “date,” since “Tori really values friendship.” Thankfully, she accepted, and that meal cascaded into more shared meals, library study sessions, and evening walks (Tori still swears these weren’t, in fact, “dates”). On December 5, 2021, Tori agreed to officially be my girlfriend. From there, our relationship flourished. We leaned on each other, shared in each others’ joys, and came to appreciate our unique backgrounds. Over time, we became more confident that God was calling us to marriage. After graduating from Princeton in 2024, we both found jobs in Washington D.C. Dating now meant more than late-night library treks: we explored museums, monuments, and biking trails, and got plugged into a wonderful church. Still, something was missing… Driving up to our first Princeton Reunions, I was exhilarated. In God’s providence, the engagement ring I had ordered four weeks prior arrived only two hours before we began our drive. On May 24, 2025, after a full day of the P-rade, dinner with family, and a stadium fireworks show, I took an unsuspecting Tori for an evening walk. Along a quiet path by Lake Carnegie, under the illumination of a lamp-post, I got down on one knee and asked Tori to marry me. She said yes! Tori and I are honored to have each of you join us for a wedding celebration that not only unites us but also signifies Christ’s love for his bride, the Church. More than anything, we hope you would come to trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and through this faith, be invited to a far greater banquet: the wedding supper of the Lamb (Rev. 19)
