From Bumble to Forever

Our story may not be a Hallmark movie, but it's the beginning of our forever. We matched on Bumble in April 2022. I started our conversation with, "What's your favorite Office episode?" Nick responded with "Sensitivity Training" or "when Michael goes to see David Wallace." That was the start of everything. Thankfully, he didn't respond with "Scott's Tots," or things could have been very different. The conversation was easy, and after a week of talking, we agreed to have our first date at Boxcar Bar + Arcade in Greensboro. I was so nervous I almost canceled—I'm so glad my roommates helped convince me to go—but as soon as he picked me up and said, "Hey," my nerves melted away. Once we arrived at Boxcar, he quickly found out that I was a Pac-Man champion. Talking to Nick was easy that night, so much so that we closed the bar down. Once he took me back home and I got inside, I told my roommate that I was going to marry him. As the summer came to an end, I had to move back home because the lease on my apartment was up. He said we could make it work, and we did. We took turns driving every weekend to see each other and on random weekdays (podcasts and audiobooks became a favorite). Together, we drove a total of 3,366 miles in the first year we dated. Then Nick asked me to move in, and our weekend visits turned into seeing each other every day. It's crazy to look back and think how one swipe changed my life. Little did I know that one date would quickly lead to many more, filled with inside jokes, long talks, cooking nights, and finding my biggest fan and my forever best friend.
