How do I get there?

Answer

We recommend flying into Thessaloniki Airport (SKG). From there, you can reach Katerini by renting a car, taxi, or KTEL bus. You can rent a car online or at the airport. Make sure you search for automatic, as most European cars are manual! The taxi stand is right outside of the airport. You will see a long line of taxis and you must go all the way to the front of the queue to get the taxi. They can take you anywhere from the airport, including straight to Katerini. The average cost of the taxi from SKG to Katerini is roughly 100 euros. The bus station is just 20 minutes away from the airport and offers direct service to Katerini. Find links to bus tickets/bus schedules on the websites listed below or under the Links tab. Tickets are typically around €7 one-way. Important to note: Ubers are NOT available in Greece! Around Katerini and Paralia, you will find taxi stands making traveling to places fairly easy. Most taxi drivers we have dealt with know English!

Whether you prefer the beach or the city, you'll find a variety of hotels and Airbnbs in Paralia and Katerini. Greece uses the Euro (€). It's a good idea to have a small amount of Euros on hand for smaller purchases, but most businesses accept credit cards. Mastercard and Visa are the most widely accepted cards. Please note that American Express may not be accepted everywhere.
